Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is actively seeking a seasoned Sr. Commercial Credit Underwriter to join their client in Georgia. This role is pivotal in evaluating and managing complex commercial lending opportunities, focusing on independent underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio oversight. The position demands a blend of analytical rigor, strategic decision-making, and collaboration with lending teams to ensure high-quality credit decisions and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, business plans, and other documentation to assess borrower capacity and repayment ability.
  • Identify, quantify, and mitigate credit and collateral risks while recommending appropriate loan structures and risk ratings.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda and loan recommendations for review committees, detailing business background, risk factors, and mitigants.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside lending officers to gather information and evaluate opportunities.
  • Review and interpret contracts, leases, appraisals, environmental reports, insurance coverage, and other relevant documentation to ensure loan security and compliance.
  • Lead independent portfolio reviews to confirm adherence to internal policies, lending guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support portfolio and credit risk initiatives, including process improvements, special projects, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, as well as internal organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 6-8 years of progressive commercial lending or credit experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a banking institution.
  • Proven expertise in analyzing complex commercial credit transactions and structuring loans to mitigate risk.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to evaluate financial and legal documentation.
  • Proficiency in Excel at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management principles, portfolio oversight, and regulatory compliance.

Required Work Hours

Monday through Friday, standard business hours.

Additional Details

Salary range is between $95,000 and $105,000 annually.
